FRED’s October 26 observation puts the 10-year minus 2-year Treasury spread at positive 0.32 percentage point, or 32 basis points. It is a dated daily series, not a live overnight market quote or a negative 47-basis-point inversion.

FRED's 10-Year Treasury Constant Maturity Minus 2-Year Treasury Constant Maturity series lists an October 26, 2026 observation of positive 0.32 percent. The page shows an update time of 4:03 p.m. Central Time on October 26. The observation date and the update time are distinct pieces of information. For a yield difference, 0.32 percentage point equals 32 basis points. The sign is positive: in this series, the 10-year constant-maturity yield is above the 2-year yield. It is not a negative 47-basis-point inversion. The preceding observations shown on the page are positive 0.31 percentage point for October 23 and October 22, and positive 0.32 percentage point for October 21. The October 26 value is one basis point above the October 23 observation, not a change of 0.32 percent in a bond's price. FRED labels this a daily, not-seasonally-adjusted series. It is a published observation rather than a continuously updating trading-screen quote. An overnight market narrative should not attach a live timestamp to this daily value. The series measures the difference between two specified Treasury maturities. It does not describe every segment of the yield curve, a retail borrowing rate or the return an investor will earn from buying a particular bond. A positive spread is not, by itself, a recession forecast. The observation also does not establish why yields moved. Claims about term premiums, fiscal borrowing, inflation expectations or an upcoming Federal Reserve decision require separate evidence. Readers comparing yield-curve reports should keep the observation date, subtraction order, sign and units together.
