EnergyNow reports WTI crude settled at $91.11 a barrel on October 2, 2026, down $1.76 or 1.90% from Thursday's $92.87, while Brent settled at $102.25. Europe and the G7 agreed to release emergency diesel and other stocks totaling 100 million barrels.

EnergyNow's Friday oil price report, dated October 2, 2026 and using TradingView prices and Reuters reporting, says WTI crude settled at $91.11 a barrel, down $1.76, or 1.90 percent, from Thursday's $92.87 settlement. Against last Friday's $92.41 settlement, WTI was down $1.30, or 1.41 percent. Brent crude settled at $102.25, down $0.06, or 0.06 percent, from Thursday's $102.31. EnergyNow puts the Brent-WTI spread at about $11.14 a barrel. EnergyNow attributes Friday's weakness to European governments agreeing to release emergency diesel stocks. A French proposal called for Europe to release 50 million barrels of diesel and for International Energy Agency members to release another 50 million barrels of crude. The broader G7 announcement confirmed plans for a 100-million-barrel release of diesel and other emergency stocks, with supplies entering the market over several months. That reversed part of Thursday's rally, when Brent rose $4.28 and WTI rose $2.45 after Chinese refiners suspended petroleum-product exports for October and reports that additional U.S. military forces were being sent to the Middle East, according to the report. EnergyNow notes Brent rolled from the November to the December contract during the week, so weekly comparisons for Brent depend on the contract basis. These are prices from one trade-press report that cites Reuters and TradingView; exchange settlement data were not read directly.
