EIA’s weekly gasoline-and-diesel page labels this series "Regular Gasoline Prices" and states that the prices include all taxes. The corresponding U.S. reading was $4.079 per gallon on August 3, 2026. The difference between the two published weekly readings is a decrease of $0.073 per gallon, or 7.3 cents. EIA’s API identifies the series as "U.S. Regular All Formulations Retail Gasoline Prices (Dollars per Gallon)," with product Regular Gasoline, process Retail Sales, and area U.S. ANALYSIS The latest weekly national average was lower than the prior week’s reading. This is a national, all-formulations regular-gasoline retail-price measure, so it provides a broad benchmark rather than the price at a particular station, in a particular state, or for every fuel grade.
