Working gas in underground storage in the Lower 48 states totaled 3,567 billion cubic feet for the week ending October 9, a net injection of 67 Bcf from 3,500 Bcf the previous week, the Energy Information Administration reported on October 15 in its Weekly Natural Gas Storage Report.

Stocks were 143 Bcf below the year-ago level of 3,710 Bcf for the comparable week, a 3.9 percent deficit, and 45 Bcf above the five-year average of 3,522 Bcf, a 1.3 percent surplus. EIA computes the weekly change as a net change; the implied flow matched at 67 Bcf. By region, East stocks were 884 Bcf after a 22 Bcf weekly build, and Midwest stocks were 1,037 Bcf after a 27 Bcf build. Mountain region stocks rose 2 Bcf to 255 Bcf, while Pacific stocks fell 5 Bcf to 294 Bcf, the only region with a net withdrawal in the week. South Central stocks were 1,097 Bcf after a 21 Bcf build, with salt facilities up 9 Bcf to 236 Bcf and nonsalt facilities up 12 Bcf to 861 Bcf. Against year-ago levels, South Central showed the widest regional gap, 9.9 percent below the comparable 2025 week, while the Pacific was 6.5 percent above its five-year average. The report is the EIA's weekly estimate of underground working gas volumes and is a storage statistic, not a production, consumption or price series. The next weekly report is scheduled for October 22. Storage levels relative to seasonal averages describe supply conditions as measured; they do not by themselves forecast prices. Limits: figures are EIA weekly estimates subject to revision in later reports, and the agency's ready-processing table excludes any special notices that appear only in the full report. Year-ago and five-year comparisons use EIA's own reference series for the comparable week.
