The official summary shows Canada up six to 226 rigs. Its international count is a September monthly reading, not another October 30 weekly observation.

Baker Hughes’ current summary lists 603 active U.S. drilling rigs for October 30, unchanged from October 23. The same table puts the U.S. count 57 rigs above October 31, 2025. The current official reading is not a decline to 599 rigs. The weekly Canadian count rose by six to 226 rigs, according to the summary. That count is 39 higher than the corresponding October 31, 2025 reading. The U.S. and Canadian changes describe separate national totals, not a combined North American change of zero. The international row uses a different reporting period: September 2026. It lists 1,122 rigs, up 20 from August and up 38 from September 2025. That monthly figure should not be presented as another October 30 weekly observation. Baker Hughes defines its North American count as a weekly census of rigs actively exploring for or developing oil, natural gas or geothermal energy. Its methodology excludes rigs that are in transit, being rigged up or engaged in non-drilling activities such as completions or production testing. The company publishes the North American report each Friday at noon Central Time. The rig count is an indicator of active drilling and demand for oilfield services and supplies; it is not itself a measure of the volume of crude oil or natural gas produced. The summary alone does not establish why individual operators added or removed rigs, quantify shareholder-return priorities or prove a response to a particular oil price. No crude-inventory draw or production estimate is inferred from this count. Those questions need their own current sources rather than being treated as conclusions of the weekly table.
