The average 30-year fixed rate climbed to 7.111% Thursday, up 6 basis points in a week, as Treasury yields stay near 19-year highs.

The average rate on a 30-year fixed conforming mortgage rose to 7.111% on Thursday, up from the day before and from 7.053% a week earlier, according to Mortgage Research Center data reported by Fortune. Other loan types also moved up over the week. The 15-year fixed rose to 6.342% from 6.297%, and the 30-year jumbo rose to 7.282% from 7.184%. The 30-year FHA rate was 6.510%, up from 6.494%. A separate measure points the same way. In the Mortgage Bankers Association's weekly survey for the week ending Sept. 18, the average 30-year fixed contract rate rose to 7.12% from 6.97%, its highest since May 2024. Mortgage applications fell 1.5% that week, and the refinance index was down 62% from a year earlier, Mortgage Professional America reported. The rise comes after the Federal Reserve raised its target range by a quarter point to 3.75% to 4% on Sept. 16, and as the 10-year Treasury yield trades near 5.12%.
