The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s GDPNow model estimated 5.8% annualized real GDP growth for 2026:Q3 in its August 6 update; the next update is scheduled for August 14.

CONFIRMED FACTS The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s GDPNow page displayed a 5.8% estimate for 2026:Q3 real GDP growth, updated August 6, 2026. The page scheduled the next GDPNow update for August 14, 2026. The Atlanta Fed describes GDPNow as a running estimate of real GDP growth for the current measured quarter based on available economic data. It says the estimate is produced from the mathematical results of the model, without subjective adjustments. The page also states that GDPNow is not an official forecast of the Atlanta Fed, its president, the Federal Reserve System, or the FOMC. ANALYSIS The 5.8% figure is a model nowcast, not an official national-accounts release. It is an annualized quarterly growth-rate estimate for real GDP, and it can change as the model incorporates additional source data before the Bureau of Economic Analysis releases its advance estimate for the quarter. UNKNOWNS AND LIMITS This update does not establish the eventual BEA estimate for third-quarter GDP, the drivers of the nowcast, or the outlook beyond the quarter. The Atlanta Fed cautions that forecast error can be substantial even shortly before the advance estimate. A nowcast also does not directly measure household income, inflation, labor-market conditions, or the distribution of economic activity. UPDATE LOG Published August 12, 2026 after direct review of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s GDPNow page. The live Data Brief inventory was checked for duplicate slugs, canonical source URLs, and substantive overlap. No published brief used this GDPNow source or covered the August 6 Q3 2026 nowcast.
